The game that we know as Bingo was invented in 1530, in Italy. That year the state ran lottery game called “Lo Gioco de Lotto”, which means "The Game Of Lotto". One very interesting fact, the game is still held every Saturday in Italy. In the late 1700s "Le Lotto" was presented in France, where is was played in a form similar to the Bingo we know today. To play the bingo of that kind the player used a card where are drawn three horizontal rows and nine vertical rows with numbered and blank squares in random arrangements. The actual form of bingo appeared in 1929. The first bingo game was called “beano”. It was played at a Carnival near Atlanta, Georgia, USA. It consisted of some dried beans, a rubber stamp and a cardboard. Edwin Lowe, a New York toy salesman, observed the game, in which a player gets “beano” when he filled one row. When Lowe introduced it to his friends in New York, Bingo got its new name, one of the players, in her excitement, managed to garble, “beano” into “bingo”. Then Lowe decided that bingo is better than beano and the game accepted the name with which we know it today.

The game of bingo starts when the Caller, the person, who announces the numbers, distributes the Bingo Cards and markers. Each player have to mark the “FREE” space in the center of the card. Then the Caller starts spinning the cage with the balls. When a ball appears, the Caller reads the letter and number on it out loud, so all players may hear. Any player who has the called number on their card have to mark it. Then the Caller places the ball in the corresponding place on the master board. This continues until one person gets a Bingo, a bingo is 5 spaces in a row- horizontally, vertically, or diagonally.
